For the last six to eight months, I've been suffering with hormonal breakouts (sob) - which has set me on a mission to find the best products for my new problematic and temperamental skin type. A friend of mine introduced me to the Magic Organic Apothecary (or MOA) and their fabulous The Green Balm - which is 100% natural, cruelty-free and suitable for even the most sensitive of skins.

If you're into herbal, essential oil-type smelling products, this will be right up your street; the brand bases the whole line on a herb called Yarrow, which has been used for centuries to heal and repair the skin. The Green Balm actually has tonnes of other uses which you can read about here, but I've been using it as a cleanser.

You can buy the balm on its own or as part of the Daily Cleansing Ritual kit, which includes a brilliant dual-sided bamboo face cloth that I've really been enjoying using. The product itself is really similar to any other cleansing balm in texture - once scooped out and warmed between the fingers, it starts to turn into an oil that breaks down makeup nicely. Massage it onto the eyes and it will take off your mascara, no trouble - you can then take the slightly rougher side of the cloth and remove the residue. On the other side, you'll find a softer feeling fabric, which they advise to soak with cold water and press on the face once cleansed. Lovely.

One thing I would note is that this doesn't necessarily cleanse off every scrap of makeup in one go; I have found I need to go back in again or with a different cleanser to make sure everything's gone. I'm an advocate for double-cleansing anyway, so it's no problem for me! You really do need a flannel or a cloth to remove this - simply splashing water on your face will not do, and you might find yourself in a bit of an oily mess. Other than that, I'd really recommend this stuff, particularly if you're sensitive or prone to breakouts - while I wouldn't say this has helped clear my skin (sadly, nothing has yet), it certainly hasn't aggravated it.

Definitely a thumbs up from me!
